The Chroma Haiku Original 6.75" Deba Cnife has the classic yet effective look and performance of chef knives used for centuries in Japan. Much like the ancient process used in a samurai sword, the "mekugi" bamboo peg joining the handle to the tang gives the knife added stability and the blade is one of the sharpest out-of-the-box edges you can buy. Deba knives are thick, stout knives that are traditionally used to fillet fish and occasionally part poultry. It is beveled on one side so please note this while sharpening.
Made with honoki-wood handles, the Haiku Original Cnife line is manufactured in small Japanese knife factories out of high-grade modern steel. The ancient method of inserting a bamboo peg (or mekugi) where the tang and handle are joined provides additional stability to this extra sharp, long lasting blade. For best results, use the Haiku whetstone to keep your edge sharp instead of a sharpening steel.
